Ms. Budd's Website

Welcome to my website! I hope that everyone is having a wonderful year so far. We have accomplished quite a bit so far in the 5th grade but we still have much more to do. We have just started using Bits I in Mathematics. Through using this book we will learn all about fractions. We will lean how to simplify fractions, create mixed numbers, find equivalent fractions and much more. I also hope that you will find that fractions can be fun. We have just finished a Science unit on Levers and Pulleys. We learned all about simple machines, how they work and how they are part of our every day life. Shortly we will begin studying Ecosystems. In writing we have just begun looking at fables and plays. Students will have the opportunity to create fables through plays and act them out in the class. Before vacation the class took a look at Colonial Williamsburg. During that exploration students had the opportunity to see how life was during these times. They got a closer look at education, laws, religion and employment. We are now going to see how tensions grew between Great Britain and the Colonies. As you can see we still have a lot to do as the year moves on.
